Day-15: Cruising Off The Coast Of Vietnam

Day-15: Sunday, February 16, 2014

Beginning Location: South China Sea
Final Location: South China Sea

Not much to say for today except that it was a welcome day of rest.

This itinerary has been like work. I haven't been up and out by 8 AM for this many days in a long time. By time the cruise is over we'll be looking for some vacation time in Florida.

So we did sleep a little later but had to be up by nine for our champagne breakfast. As champagne is not a favorite of mine, I substituted Coke Light to accompany my fruit plate.

For lunch we kept it simple, Sheila had a burger and I had one of the best hot dogs I've had in a long time. Can't say the same for the fries, but the hot dog made up the potato slack.

For enrichment we attended a great lecture "Piracy - Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow Featuring the Eastern Pirate Queens", documenting the myth and reality of piracy over the centuries. The presenter has done a couple of other presentations and does a great job at entertaining his audience, even making fun of "old people" trying to defend their cruise ship from a pirate assault.

We had a light dinner and returned to our room. Sheila caught up on TV shows and I actually did a little Helium work, trying to keep up and help pay for the trip.

South China Sea sunset.

Word was it would be a slightly rough ride to Da Nang tonight possibly delaying our arrival. Actually the delay didn't materialize and the ride was well stabilized and relatively smooth.

In that it was a light day for photography I've attached some pictures of our shipboard accommodations. It's fairly typical of a hotel style room, well outfitted and serviced several times each day.
