Beginning Location: East China Sea, En-route to Seoul, South Korea
Final Location: Yellow Sea, En-route to Seoul, South Korea
We awoke to a clear morning having experienced only a few rolls and bumps throughout the night.
Here is where we are this morning.
Our tourist day began with trivia just after ten this morning. Our team is getting better, we're now always placing in the top one or two positions amongst the 6-8 teams.
We skipped lunch in favor of a "Wine Pairing" event in the early afternoon.
Our wines included:
- Reisling "Goldtropfchen" Spatlese, I. Kreusch. Mosel, Saar Ruwer, Germany
- Sauvignon Blanc, Wild Rock, New Zealand
- Chardonnay 401K, Sonoma, California
- Pinot Noir Coronation, Sonoma, California, USA
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Muriets's Well, Livermore Valley, California, USA
The demonstration of taste variety was accomplished with lemon, soft and hard cheese, plain and spicy chicken and tomato. I'll never remember any of what we were taught and will likely revert to picking wines based on the attractiveness of the labels.
One thing about going with Sheila to a wine tasting is that I basically get a double dose of wine with she only sipping the whites and sampling the accompanying food choices.
The big event for today was to be the Gala Tea Time, the first and only tea we would be attending. This wasn't so much a high tea as it was an opportunity to showcase the food preparation staff's artistic talents and present another opportunity for the guests to over-indulge in the sweet foods of life.

Maybe seeing the Taj will satisfy the urge for a drop in trip to India!
At the appropriate time we observed sunset.
With our consumption of the tea desserts we kept it simple tonight with a light dinner and only a brief stay in the bar.
Tomorrow will be an early day to enable us to complete the DMZ trip in Korea.

Hey Uncle Nick and Aunt Sheila,
ReplyDeleteYour trip looks like a lot of fun. I'm headed to Alaska next week and after seeing your travel blog I'm inspired now to post some pics on Blogger myself. What type of camera are you using? Also how are you uploading the photos? Are you using an iPad?
Jeremy
Hello Jeremy.
DeleteGlad you had a chance to check out the blog. We arrived back in Kitty Hawk early yesterday.
So you're headed to Alaska, where specifically are you going? Suspect the weather is still a bit cold but then again you live in Minnesota where it's not exactly tropical at this time of year. Any specific touring plans in Alaska?
As for blogging, there are various formats as you would know. I've been using "Blogger" for several years but should consider alternatives that might be a touch more user-friendly.
As for the photography we use any of several cameras, a Canon EOS-60D, the serious camera, a Sony video camera, our iPhones and a pocket size camera as well. We also see people using their iPads as cameras everywhere we travel. No matter which option or options you choose you should new able to upload directly from the camera or via a computer or iPad.
I actually use my MacBook Air for the blog. Some of our friends have indicated they've had problems using their iPads so you might check into the capability of your device before heading off to Alaska.
One hint on keeping a blog, keep good daily notes. One of the things I sometimes run into is falling behind a day or two, sometimes more. Even if you can't access the Internet, it's a good idea to do a daily log, diary or blog draft even without the pictures so that when the time comes to post your work, you won't have to think back about what you did several days ago.
Hope the trip goes well, let us know where you are and send or post pictures as you go.
Nick
