Final Location: East China Sea, En-route to Shanghai, China
We dropped the Navigation Pilot off just after mid-night as we exited the Japanese Inland Sea and entered the Tsushima Strait.
Today was to be a day at sea so the photo ops were limited and life was relatively casual.
Our eduction continued at 0900 with an enrichment lecture entitled "Korea - Divided, United, Divided, What Was The War All About?" Clearly the history of Korea in our lifetime was totally shaped by the division between capitalism and communism. After three years of conflict the only apparent change in the two Koreas was a slight adjustment to the boundaries and the deaths and injuries to millions of Koreans and others from around the world brought to bear on the peninsula by the United Nations for the South and Russia and China for the North. The stark contrast in the present day life and economies of the two Koreas was well represented by the nighttime satellite imagery of the Korean peninsula, bright in the south but dark to the north.

The lecture was followed by an emergency drill, apparently the requirement is an emergency drill every 14 days. This time we didn't have to go to the outdoor lifeboat stations; that was a good thing as the low temperatures and high winds would have made the outdoor trek risky and possibly hazardous to the welfare of the guests and crew.
After lunch today's big event was the Academy Awards Show. The cruise line apparently tapes the real show and sends the tape off to the ships for entertainment. Anyone interested was handed ballots and was able to participate in the Nautica Lounge while watching the show on the big screen.
Not being terribly excited by the awards program it was nap time for Nick, while Sheila represented our interests at the awards affair.
Observed Sunset!
For dinner we dined at the Polo Grill on beef dishes, steak for both of us. As dessert time arrived the staff brought out a candled cake for Sheila's birthday; only problem was that it wasn't Sheila's birthday. Perhaps it was a practice for later in the week.
